Job Description
The Quality Engineer maintains overall responsibility for supplier's controls and performance monitoring. The QE will also be responsible for the following:
Follows all ISO 9001 quality system requirements and plant safety systems.
Works with all departments to develop, maintain and assure the quality system effectiveness.
Responsible for the continued development, maintenance, and monitoring of the SPC system in Infinity.
Update SOPs, Work Instructions, and Component Specifications in the TMS system. Dispositions nonconforming materials and maintains active control over all plant MRB areas. Responsible for the continued development and maintenance of the supplier system.
Works with Texwipe Sales in managing customer interaction and audits.

Performs data collection and analysis and issues quality reports to Management.

Qualifications

ITW – Food Equipment Group – Cooking Division has an opening for a New Product Development & Customer Back Innovation Engineering Manager – Fryers & Griddle/Broilers, working at the Charlotte, North Carolina Vulcan facility. Position Summary: This position reports to the Director of Operations for Fryers & Griddle/Broilers and will manage a team of engineers to support new product development, product customizations, and other engineering activities. Working with the Director of Operations, the NPD & CBI Engineering Manager will set priorities and direct activities to design new products, customize existing designs, and support technical initiatives set by the leadership team.
The NPD & CBI Engineering Manager – Fryers & Griddle/Broilers will study and track competitive offerings, market demand, and cooking trends to develop a strong pipeline of new products. They will liaise with Sales to support product customizations to fit specific application needs. Excellent project management skills are required with proven experience developing and launching multiple new products.
Additional responsibilities include employee management and development, team goal setting and budgeting, field testing of products, process and system management as well as reporting and data analysis.
Function:
Responsible for leading and supporting New Product Development and Customer Back Innovation as well as the development of engineering team members for the Fryer & Griddle/Broilers business unit.
Research and recommend new technologies and product improvements to grow the business.
Coordinate and lead major engineering initiatives managing timetables, product costs and performance specifications – often working with large customers and the sales team.
Guide, mentor, coach, and challenge engineering team members to reach new milestones.
Provide technical leadership to achieve the highest quality of performance for products and services in support of business objectives.
Provide advanced technical leadership in field(s) of expertise.
Embrace and apply ITW Toolbox techniques such as 80/20, PLS and the Stage Gate Process.
Job Description
Responsibilities:
Work with the Director of Operations to set and manage engineering priorities to maintain a regular flow of new products, product enhancements and customization projects to drive revenue growth, market share gains and margin improvement
Lead, manage and support the NPD & CBI Engineering Team to ensure that objectives are met on a timely basis and that designs meet cost targets and performance specifications
Study market trends and cooking technology to identify new products and features
Monitor competitive technology including IP filings to develop competitive product strategies
Provide product development guidance including overall product portfolio positioning
Recommend, develop and seat new technologies by working closely with end-users
Lead and provide technical guidance to engineering project teams as required
Apply advanced engineering theory and practices, along with experience, to solve problems
Develop and implement project plans for major activities
Work closely with the Director of Operations and Business Development Managers to define customer needs and project objectives
Analyze data and prepare reports as required to support projects and drive decisions
Support engineering objectives by personally contributing to development and design solutions
Regularly assess designs for manufacturability, serviceability, cost effectiveness and reliability
Participate in AOP, LRP and business reviews providing updates regarding engineering activities
Maintain business processes including product variation requests
Support other Vulcan and ITW business units as requested on special projects
Qualifications
Education: Bachelor Degree in Engineering
Experience: 10+ years

Have full understanding of multiple PLC and HMI programming software packages to create programs for machine control.
Have full understanding of National Electric Code and how it relates to manufacturing facilities.
Strong organizational and supervisory skills.
Ability to calculate electrical loads, voltage drops and short circuit calculations.
Work safely around exposed live electrical equipment.
Communicate well with Management, Engineering staff and Production Employees to derive best possible solutions.
Have working knowledge of Programmable Logic Controllers, operator interface devices, industrial computer products, distributed I/O and wiring systems and how to apply them for use in manufacturing equipment.
