Job Description

  • Design and install electrical control systems for use in manufacturing equipment and update existing equipment with new controls to improve performance and product quality.
  • Apply the use of automation products to increase production capacity, improve quality, reduce waste and provide a safer working environment.
  • Provide Electrical safety solutions for manufacturing equipment to guard against operator injury or equipment damage.
  • Review MBCI safety policies and suggest updates to these policies as equipment and technology change.
  • Design electrical distribution systems for facilities by calculating equipment and lighting loads and considering possible future needs.
  • Create cost estimates for proposed electrical control projects and electrical distribution projects
  • Provide recommendations to balance existing electrical systems to maximize the use of assets.
  • Provide Energy Management solutions to increase efficiency and lower utility cost for facilities.
  • Supervise Electrical Engineering Technician and organize multiple electrical projects to meet project time lines and production schedules.
  • Work with electric utilities to provide dependable high quality electrical power to facilities for the lowest cost possible. 

 

Qualifications

Bachelor of Science Degree in Electrical Engineering or an Associates Degree with 10 years experience in the Electrical Engineering field.

  • Use AutoCAD software to create electrical schematics and system layout drawings. 
  • Have full understanding of multiple PLC and HMI programming software packages to create programs for machine control.
  • Have full understanding of National Electric Code and how it relates to manufacturing facilities.
  • Strong organizational and supervisory skills.
  • Ability to calculate electrical loads, voltage drops and short circuit calculations.
  • Work safely around exposed live electrical equipment.
  • Communicate well with Management, Engineering staff and Production Employees to derive best possible solutions. 
  • Have working knowledge of Programmable Logic Controllers, operator interface devices, industrial computer products, distributed I/O and wiring systems and how to apply them for use in manufacturing equipment.
  • Have working knowledge of all types of control products and applying there use for machine control: these include photo eyes, prox switches, timers, counters, relays, limit switches ultrasonic sensors, encoders, motors, Variable frequency drives, power supplies, dynamic braking systems, soft start motor controls, motor positioning systems.
  • Have working knowledge of electrical distribution equipment and installation practices.
