Job Description
The Manufacturing Manager will be responsible for driving results in key areas of safety, quality, productivity, delivery, and continuous improvement for their associated manufacturing areas. This position requires a strategic-minded leader capable of further developing a safety-first culture, and leading continuous improvement activities that will span internal operations.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Directs and drives manufacturing operations within associated areas to achieve safety, quality, productivity, on-time delivery, and inventory goals.
Drives improvements in safety, quality and operational efficiencies using 5S and other production/lean methods.
Directs hourly non-exempt team members in the coordination, communication, and attainment of daily/weekly production schedules assuring customer needs/commitments are met.
Coordinates maintenance support in order to carry out production activities.
Works with the EHS and Quality teams to ensure functional processes are consistently applied on associated production lines.
Investigate and propose long term operating, safety, cost, and quality improvements.
Implements housekeeping and safety standards.
Promotes and follows all safety guidelines and procedures.
Recommends safety improvements as needed.
Must be able to utilize company ERP systems for material planning and inventory lot control.
Perform special projects as needed.
Perform planning / scheduling on the production line. Coordinate with planning team to assure capacity are align to demand.
Manage suppliers: assure supply of raw materials on time and coordinate with suppliers deliveries. Create PO.
Update standard cost and BOM when required.
Lead Physical inventory and cycle counts.
Qualifications
A Bachelor’s degree in technical or related field required. Preferable a Chemical Engineer, Mechanical Engineer, Industrial Engineer, or similar.
At least 5-7 years’ experience in manufacturing operations, with supervisory responsibilities.
Background in safety and environmental areas desired.
Strong interpersonal abilities, communication at all levels and customer service skills are a must.
Knowledge of business and management principles involved in strategic planning, resource allocation, leadership technique, production methods, and coordination of people and resources.
Must be organized.
Strong written and verbal communication/presentation skills with a strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite.
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed written or oral instructions.
Ability to deal with problems involving an employee, equipment, or resources.
Previous ERP experience strongly preferred.
Ability to maintain a level of confidentiality required.

Improving process capability on manufacturing equipment using a variety of tools which includes standard work, tier reviews, and kaizens.
Troubleshooting defects and variation, performing root cause analysis, applying systematic problem-solving techniques, and implementing sustainable solutions.
Engaging in daily operations to resolve equipment downtime issues, assure quality and productivity, and meet service targets.
Creating and maintaining product/process documentation, including specifications and test methods.
Establishing an extensive network of support (laboratory, quality, financial, manufacturing, engineering, sales and marketing) to help facilitate completion of assignments.
Communicating at all levels of the organization to drive direction. Function as a technical resource within immediate work group.
Qualifications
Required Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree or higher in chemistry, chemical engineering, materials science, polymer science, or a related field
Minimum of five (5) years of process development and improvement work in a manufacturing environment, preferably in chemical processing
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience with formulation, scale-up, production, and characterization of various materials and products, preferably including chemical consumer products
Experience with chemical or liquid filling operations.
Experience with developing material standards and specifications
Experiencing in specifying, identifying, and procuring capital equipment for manufacturing.
Demonstrated capability and knowledge of equipment reliability concepts and methods.
Experience with the following processes: RM substitutions, new product development process, SKU creation, BOM creation, FMEA, HOQ, test method development, MSA, capability studies, data analysis (e.g., in Minitab or Excel), root cause analysis, Six Sigma.
Experience with guiding the efforts of external partners (e.g., compounders, co-packers)
Ability to work with minimal supervision (self-motivated) and in teams
Ability to conform to shifting demands, timelines, and priorities
Training and experience in Lean manufacturing methods, statistics, SPC, DOE, and Six Sigma are beneficial; Green Belt/Black Belt certification is a plus.
Proficient with Microsoft Excel, Power Point, Outlook
Project leadership experience.
