Job Description
Candidate will:
Develop and QAQC Plans for site development and public improvement projects.
Coordinate and complete day to day workflow on assigned projects including project studies, reports, calculations and other similar design related assignments.
Meet and correspond with KVE team, clients and project stakeholders.
Serve as a Mentor to and provide guidance to less experienced staff.
Experience: Experience must include site planning, grading design, drainage design, erosion control and storm water pollution prevention design, utility design including private connections and public storm, sanitary and water main extensions. Candidates should have an understanding of the planning process, entitlement rights, traffic engineering, access management, geotechnical engineering and environmental regulations that may affect the development or property for residential, commercial or institutional development projects. Candidate will be required to work with an internal project team consisting of project design engineers, intern engineers, surveyors, geotechnical engineers and drafting technicians to complete project deliverables in accordance with client schedules and project budgets. The position will require working with planners, architects, landscape architects, structural engineers and MEP engineers and other project stakeholders outside of the organization.
This candidate will be involved with preparing project budgets and proposals, project management, client invoicing, client satisfaction, and client base development.
Qualifications
Candidate must have a BS in Civil Engineering from an accredited program and have a Professional Engineering License in the State of KS, MO or the ability to obtain a license in these states within 60 days of hire. Consulting experience is preferred. Knowledge of AutoCAD Civil3D is required. Three years of relevant experience managing and navigating the completion of projects is required. Experience in municipal engineering policy and procedures is a plus.

POSITION SUMMARY
Pearce seeks talented and motivated candidates for a Senior Structural Engineer role supporting utility-scale solar photovoltaic projects. The selected candidate will engage with Pearce's civil, structural, and electrical design teams and our clients to provide innovative, forward-thinking design solutions to facilitate solar project development, design, and construction.
DUTIES, TASKS, AND RESPONSIBILITIES
• Develop PV structural engineering plans, details, and calculations that are complete, accurate, and under Local, State, and Federal engineering practices.
• Work closely with clients to understand structural design expectations relating to site topography, grading, hydrology, and Geotech, and identify the best feasible solution(s), keeping integrity and compliance of the PV mounting systems in mind.
• Review design computations, plans, and specifications for constructability, safety, and risk management considerations for either internal design teams or external clients, when appropriate, and recommend alterations to design features to improve quality.
• Complete structural analysis and provide calculation packages for building structures and solar mounting systems such as residential roofs, commercial roofs, ground mounts, solar canopies, and other miscellaneous structures, including pitched roofs, flat roofs, ground mounts, and solar canopy/carports.
• Perform on-site structural inspections as and when needed.
• Generate required structural detailed analysis documentation for AHJ review and approval of solar permits
• Work closely with and guide engineering teams on structural engineering issues and maintain a value engineering mindset throughout the process.
• Support marketing, sales, and business development activities within the assigned market and lead/participate in project meetings and conference calls with clients, developers, EPCs, and plan checkers.
QUALIFICATIONS
• 5+ years of experience providing structural calculations, reviews, and stamps in telecom, with a minimum of 3 years of experience in solar
• Active Structural Engineering license, minimum requirements Texas and California
• Experience with estimating and managing the commercial aspects of engineering
• Deep knowledge of PV system components such as modules, racking, inverters, and BOS
• Expertise in building code requirements (IBC & IRC) and seismic/live loads (wind, snow, etc.)

DUTIES, TASKS, AND RESPONSIBILITIES
• Develop PV structural engineering plans, details, and calculations that are complete, accurate, and under Local, State, and Federal engineering practices.
• Work closely with clients to understand structural design expectations relating to site topography, grading, hydrology, and Geotech, and identify the best feasible solution(s), keeping integrity and compliance of the PV mounting systems in mind.
• Review design computations, plans, and specifications for constructability, safety, and risk management considerations for either internal design teams or external clients, when appropriate, and recommend alterations to design features to improve quality.
• Complete structural analysis and provide calculation packages for building structures and solar mounting systems such as residential roofs, commercial roofs, ground mounts, solar canopies, and other miscellaneous structures, including pitched roofs, flat roofs, ground mounts, and solar canopy/carports.
• Perform on-site structural inspections as and when needed.
• Generate required structural detailed analysis documentation for AHJ review and approval of solar permits
• Work closely with and guide engineering teams on structural engineering issues and maintain a value engineering mindset throughout the process.
• Support marketing, sales, and business development activities within the assigned market and lead/participate in project meetings and conference calls with clients, developers, EPCs, and plan checkers.
QUALIFICATIONS

Responsibilities:
Prepare timely and accurate sales estimates, using civil engineering experience to take all material, labor and time variables into account to ensure valuable and profitable projects
Review design options and recommend best solutions based on cost, engineering quality, or availability of materials
Evaluate, compare and recommend specific vendors and subcontractors to support needs of each project
Maintain cost estimating tools including databases, spreadsheets, and other computer-based applications to maintain accurate information on completed projects and industry standards.
Apply the company’s approved costing methodology, data, and systems to present estimate results in a detailed breakdown format that is suitable for use by the project manager and the project installation teams.
Consult with clients, vendors, or other individuals to discuss and formulate estimates and resolve issues
Track and compare actual costs to estimated costs for all projects won, identifying and implementing changes needed to estimate profitable projects.
Upon project completion, conduct debriefing with sales, estimating, engineering and production teams to discuss positive and negative aspects of the project.
Qualifications
Bachelor of Science Degree in Civil or related Engineering
Minimum 3 year’s Civil Engineering work experience, preferably in a land development or related field
Advanced PC skills including proficiency in AutoCAD, MapRight, Excel, Word and PowerPoint
Previous estimating experience preferred
Superior communication and organizational skills
Strong time management discipline and ability to concentrate
