Catalyst Product Development, Inc. is a dynamic group of product development professionals, working diligently to make our clients successful.  We are looking to grow our team by adding a mid to senior level mechanical engineer with a focus on product design.   We are looking for an ideal candidate with experience in new product development that has a strong background in mechanical engineering along with capturing new product designs in various CAD systems. The candidates should have a strong understanding of mechanical engineering principals such as kinematics, tolerance stack up, materials and process, electro-mechanical systems, etc.

The company has resources from industrial design, engineering, prototyping, and injection molding tooling and production, that all help expand your experiences.  Our team is very interactive with our clients, and we encourage cross pollination of job functions to create a team of well-rounded professionals that can support each other to meet our customers’ expectations.    We provide product solutions for a wide variety of industries, including juvenile, residential air movement, plumbing, commercial diagnostic, commercial utility, automotive, entrepreneurial, to name a few.  Candidates will experience diverse projects and deliverables, be expected to support multiple projects at once, and provide timely quality product solutions.

Description

  • Candidate will be responsible for developing and managing multiple design and engineering projects for various customers utilizing Pro/​Engineer, SolidWorks and other CAD software.​ 
  • Candidate will work on the design and engineering staff as a team member on a variety projects for a variety of customers
  • Candidate will be responsible for monitoring and managing multiple projects concurrently.​
  • You will interface with clients, vendors, and project management will be required.​  Candidates must be professional with good communication skills.​
  • He or she must have the ability to think creatively and analytically to develop exceptional design solutions, and the mechanical skills to design at the detail level using CAD tools.
  • You must have a desire to work closely with industrial designers and sensitivity to design and aesthetics is important, and willingness to work to achieve aesthetic goals even when multiple revisions are involved.
  • Candidate will be comfortable working as the sole engineer or in a team, as well as collaborating heavily with industrial designers competent in mechanical design.
  • You will need a creative and aesthetic eye for mechanical problem solving and personal aptitude to be able to rank the options on feasibility, cost, production methods, client requirements, etc
  • Candidate will be expected to deliver manufacturable and cost-optimized final product designs for production
  • Experience with designing kinematic mechanisms preferred
  • Ideal candidate can demonstrate practical hands-on build and test capabilities, with shop and model making skills
  • Experience designing high volume, injection molded components, complex parts and mechanisms
  • He or she will have strong technical and analytical skills, experience with all major production processes. A strong grasp of materials and processes is a must. 
  • Specially experienced with thermoplastics, injection molding, and plastic part design, and strong understanding of other process such as extrusions, vacuum forming, steel stamping and forming, tube bending, lamination, carbon and fiberglass layup, etc,
  • There must also be a willingness to support sales and marketing activities, including client presentations and proposal generation, and travel when required.

Job Requirements:

  • Minimum: Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering (or equivalent) with 3-5 years of experience.​
  • Candidate must have CAD experience including quality surface modeling with Pro/​Engineer and/or SolidWorks.​
  • Strong background in manufacturing processes (especially injection molding design).​ 
  • Strong communication and multitasking skills are a must.​
  • A personal commitment to quality and customer service.
  • Mechanical engineer with product design background is a plus.
  • Engineering / project management skills is a plus.
