Job Description
The Electronic Controls Engineer will design electrical control and power systems for customer applications involving process control and heating in various thermal system applications in the metal furnace, sintering, and metal treatment industries. They will identify specific key components to be used in the control system. This position will lead other control engineers and designers in developing design documents to build and install the systems.
Essential Functions/Responsibilities
Develop & implement electrical engineering processes for electrical controls that will improve productivity and reduce costs in manufacturing process of capital equipment for customers in the thermal and hot material transport industries that include but aren't limited to:
Power requirements; including motors, heaters, SCR’s (Silicone Controlled Rectifier) and other electrical equipment.
PLC/HMI (Programmable Logic Controller/Human Machine Interface) control architecture.
Control algorithms for both direct and distributed control using both digital and analog controllers.
System Requirement tables to assure design compliance with customer bid documents.
Control schemes, Process Flow Diagrams, and P&ID (Piping and Instrumentation Diagram) logic to control furnaces other thermal capital equipment.
Train and mentor new Designers and Controls Engineers.
Interface with customers to develop and/or clarify bid documents and specifications.
Develop engineering cost estimates to provide project quotes to sales engineers.
Manage electrical engineering projects to meet cost and schedule requirements.
Oversee designers developing control panel, P&ID (Piping and Instrumentation Diagram), cable and conduit schedules, and other parts of industrial equipment fabrication and installation documents.
Partner with other engineers and program managers to develop creative solutions that meet customer specifications.
Assist customers with the startup and commissioning of custom capital equipment control systems.

Qualifications

Heavy-Duty Range Product Line Business development
Works with the Vulcan consultant services manager, Range/Oven BDM, sales organization, and other internal staff to promote, support and grow Vulcan Heavy-Duty Range and suites business.
Assists and facilitates future development in gas and electric heavy-duty range products.
Maintains an expert understanding of Vulcan and competitive gas and electric heavy-duty range products and market trends.
Develops overall HD Range product messaging and training direction. Delivers training to targeted consultants and select dealer specifiers. Supports the Range/Oven BDM in the responsibilities of that role to include HD training and messaging to the general dealer audience, Vulcan Experience and reps.
Specialized and Custom Fabrication Product Support
Manage all Vulcan custom product offerings and projects:
Point person for all field requests for custom fabrication range projects, including suites and line-ups that may include other Vulcan or outsourced product lines.
Working alongside external vendors and the Vulcan CAD/Revit/Drawing specialist, manages the coordination and fulfillment of all custom proposals. Coordinates all revision and follow-up activities.
Produces quotes and manages discounting parameters for projects that include custom fabricated components.
Evaluates and secures back-up sources for custom fabrication.
Responsible for managing the selection and procurement of non-Vulcan (sourced) products when required.
Works closely with Vulcan field sales organization, consultants, and dealers to obtain necessary information, clarifications, and follow-up.

Experience:

Must be familiar or have direct experience with foodservice equipment custom fabrication and installation.

Responsibilities:
Heavy-Duty Range Product Line Business development
Works with the Vulcan consultant services manager, Range/Oven BDM, sales organization, and other internal staff to promote, support and grow Vulcan Heavy-Duty Range and suites business.
Assists and facilitates future development in gas and electric heavy-duty range products.
Maintains an expert understanding of Vulcan and competitive gas and electric heavy-duty range products and market trends.
Develops overall HD Range product messaging and training direction. Delivers training to targeted consultants and select dealer specifiers. Supports the Range/Oven BDM in the responsibilities of that role to include HD training and messaging to the general dealer audience, Vulcan Experience and reps.
Specialized and Custom Fabrication Product Support
Manage all Vulcan custom product offerings and projects:
Point person for all field requests for custom fabrication range projects, including suites and line-ups that may include other Vulcan or outsourced product lines.
Working alongside external vendors and the Vulcan CAD/Revit/Drawing specialist, manages the coordination and fulfillment of all custom proposals. Coordinates all revision and follow-up activities.
Produces quotes and manages discounting parameters for projects that include custom fabricated components.
Evaluates and secures back-up sources for custom fabrication.
Responsible for managing the selection and procurement of non-Vulcan (sourced) products when required.
Works closely with Vulcan field sales organization, consultants, and dealers to obtain necessary information, clarifications, and follow-up.
Tracks all proposals to assure orders are secured.
Reviews and approves all order documentation including PO and approval drawings.
Obtain shipping quotes and coordinates delivery requirements with freight company.
Oversees installation and start-up of all custom fabricated project
Qualifications
Education: Bachelor’s degree, preferable focus on Business management, sales management, or technical (engineering)
Experience:
Candidate should have experience in foodservice equipment, preferably with premier cooking equipment manufacture. Experience with heavy-duty ranges and suites is a plus.
Must be familiar or have direct experience with foodservice equipment custom fabrication and installation.
Qualifications: Strong analytical skills and detail orientation. Effective communication, writing skills, and interpersonal skills required.

Qualifications
Education/Experience Bachelor of Science Degree in Electrical Engineering; plus two years of engineering experience designing engineering solutions for capital equipment manufacturers. Leading projects in the hot materials industry preferred (steel, aluminum, glass, sintered metals, heat treatment, foundry, etc.); or equivalent combination of education and experience.
